Well, well, those Funcom guys have been more than a little busy. Secret World info is positively streaming out in the wake of GDC. Ysharros has a great round up of the key points – and in addition, there’s the new trailer and an interview with Ragnar over at

I have to say… I’m still pretty excited about this game. I know that its Funcom, and that they don’t have the best track record for delivering bug free games at launch. But I also know from my time in Anarchy online that their community commitment is second to none, and I see nothing that makes me believe that TSW will be any different. I was hoping for some indication of a release date, or a beta date… but nothing yet. I’m guessing it’ll be aimed for the end of this year, will miss its date and arrive sometime Q1 next year.

However it pans out… I’m very much looking forwards to it.


An interview with Azmodeus Valar

The new year is a time for new things, fresh shiny ideas that have never been attempted before. So in that spirit, I’m going to offer a series of interviews with the Directors of Eve University… oh… I started that already…

Oh, well, there goes my neat link piece. Instead, let’s just get on with the next interview, shall we? Without further ado, I present to you, Azmodeus Valar – Director of Logistics.

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions for us. Let’s get straight on.

So, you are Eve University Director of Logistics, what does that mean exactly?

It means I’m in charge of the industrial side of the Uni. That involves overseeing four separate divisons: Hangars, Production, Research, and Mining. Except for Mining, each has its manager who works under me. The hangar division is in charge of keeping our corporate hangers nicely sorted and stocked for all of our students. This includes the free modules and skillbooks students use, and also items for special events, replacement ships, etc… Based upon the needs identified by the hangar department, the production department uses our extensive blueprint library to build every module, ship, and round of ammo used by the uni. Research is in charge of overseeing student use of the research jobs at the POS, and delivering jobs and maintaining the research wallet. In the past, the mining division would be in charge of conducting uni mining ops and overseeing the mining loaner fleet. Currently, it is primarily concerned with overseeing the mining loaner fleet, but its duties will be expanding with some changes this Spring. I also run the BYOM ship program, catalog and maintain the Uni’s logistical reserves and blueprints, and run the Uni freighter project. I’m sure I’m leaving something out, but thats a decent summary.

And before you joined the University, what path did you follow?

I originally started my eve career in a small low-sec corporation of friends. However, after most of the group fell inactive, I needed to set a new course for my life. I joined Eve University hoping to explore some other areas of the game, and share what little I’d learned with other pilots.

What’s the best part of your job as Director? And the worst?

The best part of my job is dealing with the students and managers. I have a top-notch group of managers who work in my department, and their dedication constantly amazes me. They are always willing to spend time helping the Uni, and the talents they bring are amazing. The students are also a great pleasure to deal with, as it constantly reminds me how important that t1 frig is to a new player, and puts my job in perspective. Unfortunately, the worst part of my job is also due to the students, or at least a very small subsection of them. Thefts are a particular pain to deal with. We keep backstocks of many modules so we can quickly replace what is stolen, but those backstocks have to be replenished. The system works great at meeting the continual gradual depletion from student use, but theft but big demand spikes that require someone to spend some significant time replenishing our stocks.

What is it that the Logistics department offers students?

A lot of what the Logistics Department does is behind the scenes, and its really hard to comprehend the full extent of it. The most visible parts to the students would be the corporate hangers, BYOM ship program, freighter program, research services, and mining loaner fleet. People don’t understand that while their t1 fitted frigate with modules isn’t much in isk, when aggregated across the entire Uni, especially during wartime, it leads to large numbers of modules, ammo, and drones that have to be requisitioned from production, built (which involves pulling BPOs and minerals, and restocking mineral supplies as needed), moved into our logistics hangar, and distributed to the public hangars as needed.

And is there anything that you don’t offer that you’d like to be able to?

To be honest, there are a large number of services I wish we could offer. I would love to have locked blueprints students could produce or invent from as needed, multiple industrial pos for students to use, a stock of discounted t2 items for students, etc… However, things such as isk, and especially flawed corp mechanics make some of these ideas currently impossible or highly risky.

When I was a new student, fresh from the tutorials, I found the whole production/research/logistics side of Eve terribly intimidating (and if I’m honest, I still do!). Where would you advise a new player to begin their industrial journey?

The easiest way to get into industry would be to attend one of the beginning industry classes that are periodically held in the University. These will help players know the basics, and supply them with a t1 BPC to play with (supplied by the logistics department). After that, its a matter of research and perseverance. The industrial side of Eve usually requires someone to understand the market, identify a need, and work to fulfill that need. A basic item like ammo is usually a decent introduction to production, even if only for your own use.

Can the Logistics department help me make iskies out of my industrial skills? How?

If you decide to make production, we have a variety of services to help you. We can loan you the mining ship you use to get ore, or the industrial ship you use to haul it. We offer freighters at a discount for players who need to haul larger amounts. We’re going to expand into refining into the near future. The research division can walk you through getting a blueprint researched for use, or I can loan players a BPC if they just want to try it out. Our staff are always great at answering questions, or you can just convo me if you need anything.

Do you prefer mining, research, production or stock-taking yourself?

I started as hangar manager, so that always will have a special place in my heart, but to be honest, its not the most thrilling work. I like invention personally, as it incorporates a bit of all sections.

Given a free choice of role in a combat fleet, what would chose to do?

I tend to fly damage dealers when in Uni fleets, as we have been weak in that area during some big wars in the past, and its fun to melt someone’s face off. Cap ships are my next step, as I have everything needed, and just need an excuse to use it now.

And what’s your favourite ship, and why?

My favorite ship is probably the taranis. Its fast, strong, and can put out amazing damage for a frigate. Its what an assault frigate should have been, mislabeled as an interceptor. It can get close and melt almost any other interceptor, but does require some judgment when picking targets. Small ships are always fun because they just seem more responsive. Don’t get me wrong, melting an enemy BS in a Mega or Abaddon is nice, but doesn’t have the quick feel of a taranis in combat.

What change do you hope to see come to Eve in the not-too-distant future?

I would love to see Corporate titles and roles completely overhauled, along with the Science&Industry interface. These are two areas that could use substantial work, with a few very small changes making my life so much easier.

Are you planning to play Dust 514?

I’ll probably give Dust514 a chance, but can’t see myself becoming too active in a Dust corporation. I just don’t have the time to do that with another organization.

Would you like to see it interact with the industrial side of the game in any way, as it is intended to do with the conquest aspects?

I would like to see some interaction, but for that interaction to be limited in strategic effect. Eve’s mining and industrial sides have seen very few improvements in the last few years, and really need to be revamped and set straight before attempting to balance its integration with Dust.

When you aren’t playing Eve, what other games (online or offline) do you play?

I honestly play a little of everything. I’m playing Assassin’s Creed II, Brutal Legend, and Mass Effect 1 (prepping for 2 to be released later this month) right now. I tend to like FPS, strategy games, RTS, and RPGs. Other online games are hard to fit into my schedule, as they would interfere with eve. My fiance also likes video games, so I end up playing some of the “cuter” types of games with her.

Any forthcoming MMOs that you’ll try out?

I might give Star Trek a try, but I’m waiting to see some more details.

Back to Eve, where do you see your Eve-self in a year’s time?

It’s really hard to say. I can’t see Azmodeus leaving the Uni anytime soon, but I do have some other personas experimenting with other aspects of the game.

How can the students get involved with the Logistics department, if it’s a part of the game that interests them?

It really depends on which division they want to be involved with. Volunteering to be a hangar officer (when those positions are open) is always a good start, as it helps build trust for some of the more security sensitive positions in the hangar department or research. Mining just involves leadership. Step up, lead some mining fleets, and you could be the next mining manager before too long.

An interview with Dierdra Vaal

I now that this is a starting to look like an Eve uni interview blog, rather than documenting my experiences, but really, I do have a couple of posts planned that are about my game life. Real life, however, is pretty busy at the mo, my lovely daughter is being weaned onto solids with all the mess and drama that it entails; whilst work continues to require, well, actual work. I’ll get around to updating the blog with a status update, some CSM chuntering, some thoughts on Dominion and some wiffle about Recons, as soon as I get some spare headspace and time.

In the meantime, I have another of my interviews, this time with Director of Education, Dierdra Vaal. Not only is DV a Uni director, but also Chairman of the Council of Stellar Management. So, hopefully this is a relatively timely interview as well! On with the questions:

So, you are Eve University Director of Education, what does that mean exactly?

It means I’m the head of Eve University’s education department, and responsible for its smooth operation. The education department has 4 divisions: Teaching (classes, guest lectures, etc), Events, Mentoring and our advanced student program D6. Each of these divisions has its own manager who are responsible for most of its operation, but I oversee these managers and make sure each division’s direction fits with the direction we want Eve University to take.

And before you joined the University, what path did you follow?

I was a frustrated newbie before I joined Eve Uni – I’d already quit Eve 3 times.

If you weren’t in the Uni, where do you imagine you’d be by now?

If I’d never joined Eve University I doubt I’d be playing Eve now. If I had moved on I may have joined some of the more reputable pirate corps, or possibly a 0.0 alliance.

If you had to sell the University to a new player, how would you do so?

I have advertised a lot already – I used to be an RO. I’d probably link them to our commercial or just tell them about who we are and what we do. It usually does the trick.

What one thing would make your life as Director of Education better, easier or more pleasant?

More teachers, without a doubt. We still do not have as many classes as I’d like and despite trying to recruit more teachers it seems it is exceedingly difficult to attract reliable, consistent teachers. We also haven’t made as much progress on the syllabi library as I’d like. More mentors would also be useful although I understand the mentoring programme is doing quite well already. Ultimately, Eve University needs a group of volunteers willing to help other pilots – just as many of our current mentors and teachers were once helped by other veterans. Without our volunteers we couldn’t run Eve University.

Mining, Trading or Combat?

Combat. With a mix of exploration but that is not included in this list. I find mining dreadfully boring and I dont have the patience and will to become good at trading – which is probably why I’m relatively poor for a player my age.

Given a free choice of role in a combat fleet, what would chose to do?

Probably damage or electronic warfare. I’ve done just about eve fleet role by now except for logistics – overall I usually just pick whatever is needed.

And what’s your favourite ship, and why?

Probably the Pilgrim (Amarr recon). It cloaks, it has a huge tank, two types of electronic warfare and reasonable damage output. It is one of the few good solo pvp ships.

You are not only a Uni Director, but also you are a twice elected CSM rep, and the chair of the third (current)CSM. What does that involve?


The CSM communicates with CCP on behalf of the players of Eve. This means we read the forums – a lot – to make proposals based on forum threads in the Assembly Hall forum. We meet every 2 weeks (sometimes more) to discuss the issues and vote on them. All issues with majority support end up in front of CCP who are obligated to give us an answer.

It is very interesting to see how the CSM can affect the development of Eve. For example, the skill queue is a direct result of the CSM. CCP initially had a lot of resistance against the idea, but as the CSM kept pushing for it, eventually CCP realised it would be a good addition to the game.

And how did you find yourself standing for election the first time?

When CCP announced the first CSM elections, the directorate decided it would be a good idea to try and get an Eve University pilot on the council. After an internal poll, we decided to put me forward as the Eve University candidate.

What made you stand for re-election last time around?

The same thing that made me stand for election the first time: I believe that if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. I also knew the process the 2nd time, and felt I still had a lot of useful input to give.

What difference that the CSM has made makes you the most proud of your work with them?

Well there’s ofcourse the ingame changes, but I think the biggest difference is simply that we have proven that the process can work. CCP and the CSM have started a very useful partnership that you don’t see in any other game – and I think Eve has become a better game for it.

And as your final term draws towards a close, do you have any regrets?

Not really. It was very nice to be able to be Chairman the 2nd time around – it makes me feel a bit like this is ‘my CSM’. Of all 3 CSMs we have put forth the most issues with CCP, as well as engage in some very interesting brainstorming sessions.

A bit of future gazing now, how long do you imagine that Eve will persist, and will it go out with a bang or a whimper, when the time comes?

If CCP continue as they have been doing, I very much doubt that Eve will ever go out. At this point CCP is committed to Eve Online, and have stated that they are not interested in developing an Eve 2.0 or something. They just want to keep improving and expanding the current universe. You can see that now with Dust, New Eden (spacebook) and Incarna, which all greatly change or expand the way we interact with the game universe.

Are you planning to play Dust 514?

Not at this point, I don’t own an xbox or playstation.

When you aren’t playing Eve, what other games (online or offline) do you play?

Mostly shooters. I currently play a lot of Team Fortress 2, Unreal Tournament 3 and Battlefield 2142. Sometimes Audiosurf.

Any forthcoming MMOs that you’ll try out?

None, one addiction is quite enough.

Back to Eve, what change would you most like to see to the University?

I’ve been trying to move to a more stable curriculum, and a better teacher roster so I can guarantee that class X is taught every Y weeks. Right now if someone were to ask me when the next Trading class is I’d have no idea. But for a better curriculum I need a lot more teachers.

And where do you see your Eve self in 2 years time?

That is hard to say. I may still be with the uni, I may be off doing my own thing or maybe not play Eve at all.

An Interview with Silentbrick

This is the second in my series of interviews with Eve University directors, this time with Silentbrick, E-Uni Fleet Admiral. So without further ado…

So, you are Eve University Fleet Admiral, what does that mean exactly?

I’m basically the military director for the Uni. I effectively run the Uni during Wartime, which is how MM set it up really and it evolved over time. I set and create military police and while I could do it all on my own, I prefer to work with the other directors since they have good ideas and help me try to see all aspects of the policies created. I do try to stay out of the non-wartime decisions as much as I can, since I don’t want to be imposing my will on our civilian directors. Honestly though, I don’t really feel much need to do more than give my opinion as one of many when items are debated for most things and it’s rare that we need a serious decision about Military policy.

I consider my main function to be ensuring that people learn about PVP and leadership, since they are very important parts of the game while also ensuring the Uni has adequate defenses against griefer corps.

What’s the best thing about the role? And the worst?

The best thing is watching griefers not only die to Eve Online’s noobs, but also noob lead fleets most of the time. That is the greatest pleasure I get from this game. The worst is dealing with drama. It comes in cycles, but it’s rarely anything new, just the same things again and again, that in the long run, don’t change because of what the Uni is.

If you weren’t in the Uni, where do you imagine you’d be by now?

If I wasn’t in the Uni, I probably wouldn’t be playing EVE, I was very close to quitting when I joined the Uni. If I left it now, I don’t know what I would do really as I don’t plan on leaving.

If you had to sell the University to a new player, how would you do so?

I’d point out that we’re the only place in EVE Online where someone less than three months in the game has gotten to be in the Alliance Tourney and gets to lead fleets of 150 people. I’d also point out that we’re one of the few places in EVE where the likelyhood of one of your corpies ripping you off is very very small.

What’s the ILN, and who can join?

The ILN Is the Ivy League Navy and any Uni member is allowed to join, if they agree to remain in the Uni for 3 months. There’s no time requirement to be online or activity level, joining the Navy is simply a way to learn more about PVP and for those active and willing, a place to learn leadership.

With the creation of the Battlegroups the ILN has been divided into Time Zone based groups, what is the vision behind this?

The idea was to create official groups of pilots that would operate together as well as open up the possibility for pilots to gain a variety of experience. Each battlegroup has 6 officers that each have differing functions as well as slots for squadron commanders. It also gives those pilots with the same general playtime more opportunity to do things together, with the same pilots. This is very effective for building teamwork and promoting people to take more active roles.

How would you like to see the ILN develop over the coming months and years?

I’d like to see more pilots remain in the Uni for longer periods of time, permitting us greater ability to match corps that war dec us in skill points as well as in number. I would also like to see us gain more cap ship pilots, because taking down POS’s with battleships just takes way too long.

Is there a plan to implement a progression and/or rank structure into the ILN that offers the opportunity for unistas to develop their ILN career?

That has already been done with the battlegroups, the six main positions are all tied to a specific rank in the ILN and there are additional slots based on the squadrons of each battlegroup. The main positions are the CO and XO, which are ranked Captain and Commander respectively and then the four staff positions which hold Lt. Commander Rank. Squadron CO’s are Lieutenants and XO’s are Lieutenant Junior Grade.

If I were a University player looking to learn to fly a particular role in combat, what would you recommend I look to specialize in? And where would that take me in the medium to long term?

I don’t generally tell people what they should specialize in as that’s a function of their own temperament. Someone that likes flying EWAR ships will perform that function better than someone with more skill points that is only flying it as needed. So my recommendation would be to try each role, tackler, damage, ewar and logistics before deciding which you like most and then concentrating on that role. That’s the real path to becoming the best pilot you can.

Given a free choice of role in a combat fleet, what would you choose to do?

I typically fly damage, as that’s been something we usually need in Uni fleets, particulary long range damage. But it’s kind of rare I get to really participate fully in battles as commanding them means you’re busy and once you’ve set your weapons on a target, you generally ignore it while you monitor and control what else is going on.

And what’s your favourite ship, and why?

My favorite ship is the Raven, because it’s the most flexible battleship in the game. Sure other ships can do certain things better, but no other ship can handle as many roles as well as the Raven.

Are you planning to play Dust 514?

I haven’t really decided. I think the kicker for me would be finding out if Ubercado plans to play it and then I probably would.

Would you like to see an ILN infantry division in Dust 514?

It would be interesting, though I’m not sure how that would fit into the political structure of the universe, since the Uni is neutral generally.

When you aren’t playing Eve, what other games (online or offline) do you play?

The other ‘game’ I play most online is actually Mushing, though just World of Darkness Mush’s. I also play Left 4 Dead online a good bit. Offline I enjoy things like Rome Total War, Starfire and a rather large variety of wargames and games with strong plots.

Any forthcoming MMOs that you’ll try out?

There are other MMO’s? I’ll probably give the World of Darkness one a try, if White Wolf ever gets it out.

Back to Eve, what change would you most like to see to the University?

I really only handle one aspect of the Uni, and I can implement any changes I need in it. I’d much rather change aspects of the game, such as being able to use the title system to give ranks to people but it’s so limited we can’t do that.

And where do you see your Eve self in 2 years time?

In the Fleet Admiral’s chair still. I have no ambition beyond that. I certainly don’t ever want the Chief of Operations job again.

An interview with Kelduum Revaan

Kelduum Revaan is Eve University Director of Operations. He recently agreed to be interviewed about his role in the Uni and offer some of his thoughts about Eve at the same time. Without further ado, here’s the interview.

So, you are Eve University Director of Operations, what does that mean exactly? Kelduum Revaan

Put simply, those involved in the day-to-day operations of the Uni report to me, and make the big decisions on everything barring combat related ops. This involves the Personnel, Logistics and Training departments, as well as things like Diplomacy and Communications. The vast majority of the actual work is done by the directors, managers and other staff, but if there’s a problem, or a big decision needs to be made, I’m likely involved at some point.
When it comes to combat related elements, Silentbrick is Fleet Admiral and handles that side of things, with both of us reporting to Morning Maniac, the Founder and CEO of the Uni.

And before you joined the University, what path did you follow?

I joined eve way back in June of 2006, enticed by the stories of massive bank heists, and political power blocs with competing ideologies. For the first few weeks, I didn’t get up to much, but after a fair bit of research, I found the Uni’s recruitment advert on the official forums. This was around the time The Big Blue was collapsing, and not long later, the Uni left TBB, suffering some early harassment wars, and eventually forming its own alliance.

If you weren’t in the Uni, where do you imagine you’d be by now?

Hard to say, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t still be playing Eve. Initially I had joined looking to get some experience before joining Ars Celestis, then a member of the Huzzah Federation alliance. That sort of got sidetracked when I realised that I was enjoying myself in the Uni, and was given the Director title.

What was it about the University that made you want to accept the position of Director?

Its difficult to chose a single or even a few factors, but in short, I’d say its the community. Being part of something like E-UNI which is one of the few truly altruistic groups in New Eden, really is something great, and the members make it more than the sum of its parts. The actual title actually came fairly soon after I joined, as I somehow found myself involved in a discussion with someone who had been shot by Sabre A, and managed to diffuse the situation. For those who don’t know, Sabre A was the Diplomatic Director before I took over the role, which has to be the least suitable title for anyone in Eve.

When you see students leave the University, what would you hope that they take with them?

I would hope they take the friendships they built while here, as well as a little of the community spirit we have, not to mention the knowledge and experience they gained while a member. Quite a few changes have been made over the last few months to make leaving less painful for most members, without compromising security. Before those, we had people sticking around in the Uni as they didn’t want to leave their friends, which lead to some tensions with the RoE and Policies, but the changes have meant that they can still stay in close contact after leaving, both with the friends they made as well as the Uni in general wherever they end up, without the restrictions we have in place.

The SOP is often criticised for being overly harsh, and this can lead to accusations that the Uni leadership is overly autocratic. How would you answer those criticisms?

The SOP during wars is something that tends to grate with a few new members every time we enter a war situation, but it has evolved and grown to be quite efficient and work very well for the majority of members. Primarily it is there to prevent wars for being ‘fun’ for the aggressors, while still allowing those who stay in the corp to get some significant PvP and FC experience. Imagine what would happen if we had 1,300 members running around unawares, mining, hauling, and missioning in expensively fit ships – the corp would quickly become Eve pinata’s, with people from all over attacking just for the profitable loot!
As far as any claims of autocracy or dictatorships go, that’s to be expected – members are usually here to learn, and the leadership has some significant experience, having seen many many scenarios before, so we often need to be very clear exactly what does and doesn’t work, especially when it comes to wars.

I would imagine that your Uni position can often be a hard and thankless task, how do you unwind and relieve some of that stress?

I often just take some time away form the computer, and go do something else for a while. A great deal of the work is done by the excellent team of directors and managers, so while I am involved to a certain extent with many areas of the Uni, It doesn’t consume as much time as it could.

And how much of your time is taken up on Uni-related tasks?

All in all, taking things like forum administration, keeping up to date, removing inactive members and cleaning up the TS server, its maybe four or five hours a week of direct work while logged in. Apart from that, there’s countless hours of discussion, analysis and speculation on various Uni-related topics, so while I may not be in-game, there’s likely some Uni-related thought processes running.

Given a free choice of role in a combat fleet, what would chose to do?

Ideally a fleet support role. In what recent combat I’ve been involved in, I’ve taken primarily support roles, scanning down targets, hauling supplies for fleets and so on, although I don’t get enough time to get involved most of the time.
If I had the time, and a bit more experience, I would probably take the role of FC in a command ship or similar.

And what’s your favourite ship, and why?

I’d have to say the Machariel, although it could so with a jetwash. Despite its size, its a very fast and manoeuvrable Battleship, and is very flexible when it comes to fitting. A close second would probably be the Legion, the Amarr Tech 3 ‘Strategic Cruiser’ – again, its versatility mean it can fullfill pretty much any role needed.

What change do you hope to see come to Eve in the not-too-distant future?

I’m looking forward to a revamped Neocom, especially stuff like the IGB and EveMail changes, and I’m hoping that in the near future there will be a good few adjustments to the other parts of the interface, mainly the corporation section. The tools we have to manage a group the size of E-UNI are clunky at best, and while they mostly do their job OK, theres a significant amount of improvement available.

And what already announced change are you most looking forward to?

The shake-up with sovereignty will be very interesting, and I will be watching the maps closely for a good few months after Dominion launches. And of course, it will be interesting to see what happens with Incarna.

A bit of future gazing now, how long do you imagine that Eve will persist, and will it go out with a bang or a whimper, when the time comes?

I would say that Eve has a good few years left in it. Subscriber numbers have been steadily rising since launch, and while its unlikely we would ever see multiple millions of subscribers as things are at the moment, I really expect that Eve, and the University, will still be here in many years to come.

Are you planning to play Dust 514?

Certainly. Although I’m admittedly not all that good at them, I do enjoy first person shooters, and the interaction with Eve itself will make things very interesting.

When you aren’t playing Eve, what other games (online or offline) do you play?

Quite a few… a quick list of the stuff I have played recently would be: Torchlight, Machinarium, Borderlands, Fallout 3, GTAIV, Dragon Age: Origins, Darwinia and Fable II. Barring Eve, I tend to play single player games mainly, and while I own all the formats, the Xbox 360 tends to me my most popular gaming platform.

Any forthcoming MMOs that you’ll try out?

I tend to get involved with quite a few MMOs at launch, but I’ve not found anything that grabs me as of yet. As a fan of Knights of the Old Republic, and the Old Republic era in general (Revan, Traya, Bane, etc), I’m looking forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic. There is a great period of time before the films which is practically empty, and I’m looking forward to filling in some of that backstory.

Back to Eve, do you see a time coming when the University might look to have a semi-permanent 0.0 presence?

Well, technically, we already have a 0.0 presence at the moment in Division 6, but k-space nullsec can be very problematic. We need to stick to NRDS standings to maintain neutrality (which shouldn’t be confused with pacifism), and without people using the space, we don’t encounter the groups there and therefore can’t set standings to identify valid targets – effectively a catch 22 situation.
Projects such as CVA space, while apparently ideal for our kind of situation, can also be an issue as they often require us to follow their standings lists, meaning that there are situations where we shouldn’t be attacking our reds. Hopefully the updated mechanics coming in Dominion will better allow these kind of arrangements, and simplify a lot of the behind the scenes work.
Getting back to the actual question, once things have settled down in nullsec, we will be seriously looking at arranging access for members, but its a difficult balancing act to do so without either compromising our neutrality or expending resources which could be better used elsewhere. In the mean time though, members are free to run around in NPC nullsec (Curse, Great Wildlands, Syndicate, Outer Ring) as much as they want!

Is there anything that the university doesn’t offer now, that you’d like to see in the future?

I would like to see E-UNI with a nullsec presence, and while we only really teach the basics, its likely that will become a more significant element in Eve life in the very near future. I feel it is really the only major part we are currently missing, but its a lot of work setting something like that up and maintaining it.
